Joshua Tree National Park covers an area larger than the state of Rhode Island, spanning both the Mojave and Colorado Desert. The Pinto Culture called this region home between 8000 and 4000 BC and later the Serrano, Cahuilla, and Chemehuevi peoples lived here.
The Joshua Tree or yucca tree is native to the region and can live up to a thousand years!
