Volubilis :: Roman Ruins of Morocco

IMG_8959

Volubilis was definitely a Morocco highlight. The ancient Roman ruins date back to AD 40 and are both ethereal and enduring in their beauty. Before Roman times, it was the capital of the Berber kingdom of Mauretania in the 3rd century BC. It later became a Roman site whose prosperity was derived from olive growing. Today, it is a UNESCO world heritage site. Volubilis was strikingly stunning and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Morocco.
