Our stay in Split was brief, very brief, like 24 hours brief. But honestly, I didn’t feel the need to stick around any longer. We filled our day there to the brim, and walked for hours amid the sun kissed stone walls. We rose quite early in the morning to have a breezy breakfast along the Riva waterfront, and then made our way to the old walled city. We checked off the Split classics like Diocletians’ Palace, Cathedral of Saint Domnius, Jupiter’s Temple, and the four gates first before strolling the many narrow streets. The rest of the day included nothing but sand, sun, and turquoise waters. Basking in the warmth and the lullaby of soft waves rolling in served as the perfect relaxation at the end of our Eastern European backpacking adventure. Croatia was the vacation we needed to recuperate from our escapades.
