The lovely weekend getaway was attributed all to Whitney’s planning and secrecy. And it was absolutely wonderful! Whitney booked a weekend stay at Jenny Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park as a surprise. She had flowers and chocolates waiting in the log cabin upon arrival that Friday night with the sweetest note, as well. The whole weekend was full of delicious and elegant meals provided in the main lodge, including four course breakfasts and treats.
On Saturday, we biked around Jenny Lake and the national park in the morning. In the afternoon, Whit scheduled a guided horseback ride around the other glacier lakes of the park. The views were incredible with lakes mirroring mountains and leaves changing a crisp autumn yellow. In the last glowing rays of afternoon light, we drove the park’s scenic route, awed by the culmination of Mother Nature’s beauty. Each bend in the road allotted another scenic moment with mountain peaks forging up through the sky, calm waters in the foreground, and fall hues peppering the embankments.
We had discussed having a fall photo shoot this year for Christmas cards, and Whit thought the autumn colors with the backdrop of the Tetons would be perfect. I was beyond ecstatic! Unbeknownst to me, Whit was planning an even bigger surprise. Once the photographer arrived, Whit got down on one knee and proposed. All the while, the photographer was catching the perfect moment on film. The weekend was surreal, elegant, and authentic.
