Chihuly: the art of glass

Chihuly: an incredibly creative soul. His glass blowing artwork is stunning, with vibrant hues that emanate light and contrast starkly with his onyx backgrounds. We stopped into the Chihuly Exhibit in Seattle during our month long Northwest residency interviewing tour in December 2014. It was by far the best art exhibit I have ever had the opportunity to see. And the story of his past is riveting. He lost an eye in 1976 during a car accident, yet continued to create beautiful pieces without any depth perception. He then dislocated his shoulder in 1979, thereby preventing him from blowing glass anymore. Instead of retiring from the art industry, he became a director of sorts, dictating his visions to other glass blowers, allowing his career to continue to flourish.
